I love novels that straddle fiction and self-help, where the reader can expand their self-awareness and perceptions without it being forced or explicit.
My first book, Joyful Eating, is a self-help book that includes self-reflection activities to help the reader break free of diets and enjoy food without rules, guilt, shame and continuous negative internal dialogue. When I finished writing Joyful Eating, I thought, wouldn’t it be fun, and maybe more accessible to people, if I wrote a bedtime or beachside read where the main character goes on a journey of self-discovery to learn that your weight does not define you.
It was this thought that gave rise to my first novel that will be published by Shawline Publishing in 2022.
And now I have caught the writing bug!
Since that first novel, I have outlined two more and have started writing one. These novels cover issues of not feeling you are enough, self-acceptance, weight stigma, childlessness and disordered eating behaviour.
I hope you enjoy the books as much as I did writing them. The genre is women’s fiction and read a little like Bridget Jones meets Eckhart Tolle. They are light and fun with some deeply profound life lessons.
I look forward to sharing my novels with you when they are released.
In the meantime, I invite you to join my monthly newsletter. That way, you’ll be the first to know when the novels are released and be privy to behind-the-scenes, launch events and special offers.
Welcome to the Joyful Eating Community.
